Mental Health Week 2020

When we talk about the impact of forced displacement, not enough attention is given to the need for psychosocial support for young people. They need counselling, focus group sessions, and safe spaces where they can freely share their experiences and talk about things on their mind. In many cases, they just need someone to listen, encourage, and guide them, making them hopeful about the future.

Psychosocial support helps to improve their state of mind, self-confidence, and behaviour. It gives them a better outlook for the future.

Psychosocial support should be incorporated into the immediate humanitarian response.
